Absent: Mike Deming,
Stephen Selvek calls the meeting to order.
Minutes of the April 14, 2009 Meeting.
Quorum for the minutes is not available so no motion is called. The July 14, 2009 meeting has notes available but since a quorum was not met there are no official minutes.
Certificates of Appropriateness.
1) 135 South St.
Bill Bader, 135 South St. – pool is in the front yard and has been there many years. The house sits far back on the property. Shares access drive with #137 before the drive splits to its respective properties. The stockade fence currently there is in disrepair and needs to be replaced. Would like to replace with black, wrought iron look, 4 foot fence. In regards to questions concerning buffers, box wood type hedges would be planted along the fence to shield the view from the road.
Stephen Selvek – the fence is ok but the concern is the pool showing through to the road. A hedge would accomplish shielding the pool from view. I will approve this in-house with the notation that the hedge is to be planted along the fence line at the same height as the fence. All three types of fencing submitted are acceptable. Last month Mike Deming indicated that he had no problems with it.
2) 15 Elizabeth St.
Ross Shepherd, 15 Elizabeth St. – would like to fence in the west side and rear of the property beginning at the northwest corner of the house to the rear and across the rear to meet at the fence of #17. 6’ privacy made of hemlock and made by the applicant/owner. Wants the fence due to issues with tenants at @11. Painted to match painted portions of the house & the garage.
(Jim Hutchinson arrives.)
Stephen Selvek – would like to see 3 horizontal beams instead of the cross beam since it will be facing out.
Motion to approve as submitted with the exception of removing the cross beam made by Paul McDonald, seconded by Betty Lewis. All members vote approval. Motion carried
3) Return to 135 South St.
Stephen Selvek – recap project and board discussion.
Motion to approve including the addition of a hedge along the front of the fence by Betty Lewis, seconded by Jim Hutchinson. All members vote approval. Motion carried.
4) 39 Grover St.
Stephen Selvek – discussed last month and members present did not have any objections. Replacing 7 windows with Marvin insert, wooden, aluminum clad. No grills or muttons. Only change is center style would come down 2 inches to comply with fire egress standards.
Motion to approve by Jim Hutchinson, seconded by Paul McDonald. All members vote approval. Motion carried.
5) 74 South St.
Stephen Selvek – application came in today but we can look at it..
Jim Hutchinson, 74 South St. – replacing garage door with a carriage style door. Original doors were 2 bifold doors with glass similar to what is being proposed.
Stephen Selvek – if there are no objections from the members present I will approve in house after speaking with Mike Deming on his return.
Motion to adjourn made by Jim Hutchinson, seconded by Paul McDonald. All members vote approval.
Meeting adjourned.
